Grenada True Blue Bay Resort & Villas
True Blue Bay Resort History

Russ and Magdalena with their two daughters Marie and Renatta live very near the resort and consider themselves very lucky to be Grenadian Nationals and to own such a beautiful spot. They have always regarded True Blue Bay Resort an extension of their home.
In the 18th and 19th centuries, the area known as True Blue was an Indigo plantation. As the price of Indigo dropped, the plantations fell one by one into disuse. In 1968 the Caribbean Trade Fair was held in True Blue. It was during this time that the roads we enjoy today were built. Later the area was subdivided and over recent years True Blue developed into one of the most desired areas of Grenada and the home of St. George’s University.
In 1998 Magdalena and Russ Fielden purchased what was then called True Blue Inn, which consisted of three, two-bedroom cottages and four waterfront apartments. They dug in and started refurbishing and rebuilding and by the end of 1999, True Blue Bay Resort was a handsome fifteen-room resort. During the summer of 2001, another large investment was made, and the twelve Indigo rooms were built. The resort was set again to undergo yet another transformation, and by the end of 2003, five two-bedroom villas were built and the Petite Anse infinity pool opened. In 2004, Hurricane Ivan spread it’s devastation across the island and like other properties True Blue Bay Resort was heavily damaged. However, due to the positive attitudes and hard work put forth by the Fieldens, their staff and many of the occupying guests, the resort managed to stay open, taking care of guests and islanders alike. The rebuilding process was extensive. Most of the rooftops were destroyed, the water damage was overwhelming, and the heavy winds blew away the two-bedroom cottages. The reconstruction efforts after Ivan, brought about the True Blue Rooms, and the ultra romantic Tower Rooms completed in November 2005. The Dodgy Dock Restaurant and Lounge Bar (ex-Stuart’s Bar) renovation was completed in October 2006, and is once again an island hotspot.
This Year 2010 True Blue Bay Resort is finally renovating their old "Waterfront Apartments" and transforming them in 10 striking "Water Front Suites" featuring Magdalena's
unique decor with comfortable Caribbean designed furnishings, King size beds, fully equipped kitchen, living room and fantastic balconies with spectacular
views of the glinting waters of True Blue Bay. These suits should be available from December 2010.
